Flood & Fire Damaged Hard Drives |
What to do if your hard drive is in a flood or fire....First, DO NOT do any of the following. You risk taking a potentially recoverable hard drive and rendering it permanently unrecoverable:
- DO NOT turn the hard drive on
- DO NOT take the hard drive apart
- DO NOT tap, knock, or otherwise bang the drive further
- DO NOT put the drive in the freezer
- DO NOT try to dry the drive (do not put it in a bag of rice or silica gel)
If your drive is liquid damaged:
DO place the drive in a plastic bag. If the drive was submerged, do not let the drive dry out.

Corrupt Partition or Boot Sectors |
|
If your hard drive has corrupted partition tables or corrupted/missing boot sector, it must be determined if the problem is logical or physical in nature.
Erroneous logical drive operations may result in lost, missing, or corrupt boot sectors or partition tables. This type of recovery is logical, and does not require cleanroom work.
If the boot sector or partition table is corrupt due to physical media degradation or damage to these areas of the hard drive, physical cleanroom recovery will be neccessary.
Completion of our data recovery inspection will give our engineers the data to determine if your drive failure is logical or physical, then we will discuss with you the data recovery options available. |

Hard Drives That Will Not Mount |
|
What to do if your hard drive will not mount:
This is a very common hard drive failure symptom. A computer or external hard drive is turned on, and the hard drive will not mount. The problem may be as simple as a corrupt volume header or as complex as a media failure.
Give us a call at Hard Drive 911 Data Recovery for your free phone consultation. We will discuss with you the exact issues you are experiencing and help determine if there are safe diagnostics you can perform. If the drive does need recovery, we will assist you in getting the data recovery process started. Contact us at recovery@harddrive911datarecovery.com or (888) 470-3282. |

Physical Hard Drive Failure |
|
Physical Hard Drive Failure is differentiated from logical hard drive failure in that in all cases other than logic board issues, physical recovery requires cleanroom work on the hard drive. Physical hard drive failure may result from any of the following user and system errors:
- Dropped Hard Drives
- Clicking hard drive
- Drive not spinning
- Liquid Damage
- Fire Damage
- Electric shock
- Broken Connectors
- Printed circuit board failures including pre-amplification
- Head crash
- Damaged Platters
- Actuator failure
- Stepper motor failure
- Motor Failure
- Spindle bearing seizure
- Media degradation
- SMART problem
Give us a call or send an email. A recovery engineer will be glad to spend time talking through your hard drive issue. Upon completion of your hard drive inspection, we will inform you if your hard drive failure is logical or physical in nature as well as turn-around time and cost options. Please contact us at Recovery@HardDrive911DataRecovery.com or call us at (888) 470-3282 for your free phone consultation to discuss your particular hard drive issue. |

Logical Hard Drive Failure |
|
Logical hard drive failure is differentiated from physical hard drive failure in that logical recovery does not require cleanroom work on the hard drive. Logical hard drive failure may result from any of the following user and system errors:
- Virus attack
- Accidental or Intentional Hard Drive formatting
- Accidental or Intentional operating system reinstallation
- MBR corruption
- Corrupt volume information
- Corruption partition table information
- Exposure to strong magnetic fields
- Unreadable, un-openable, or corrupt files
- Disappearing files or directories
Upon completion of your hard drive inspection, we will inform you if your hard drive failure is logical or physical in nature as well as turn-around time and cost options. Please contact us at Recovery@HardDrive911DataRecovery.com or call us at (888) 470-3282 for your free phone consultation to discuss your particular hard drive issue. |
