Burned Chips

There are many hard drive problems which cause a hard drive to give off a burning smell and have visibly burned chips on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board).

Some causes of electrical burning are:

  • Dropping a hard drive causing a motor bearing to seize.
  • PCB (Printed Circuit Board) electronics damage
  • Liquid Damage
  • Electronic Discharge / Power Surge

Regardless of the problem causing the electrical burning, the issue must be addressed by a data recovery professional with the tools and expertise to diagnose and resolve the issue. Please contact Hard Drive 911 Data Recovery at (888) 470-DATA or Info@HardDrive911DataRecovery.com to discuss your hard drive issue.

Do not attempt to swap the PCB (printed circuit board) with a similar PCB. This may render the drive unusable.

Client Testimonials

The guys at this company are genius! Years ago nobody in New York could recover my drive and a friend had told me about Hard Drive 911 so I shipped it to LA. I had it back within a week. They do not b.s. - they will recover your data and tell you if you need new hardware or not. Super smart, efficient and professional. well worth the price (which is competitive anyway).

I tell all my friends and business colleagues to go to Hard Drive 911 no matter how big or small the job - they may not be Geek Squad or the Apple store but that's the point - they are so much better!
